Highly Skilled Migrant Programme
The UK government operates a programme to allow individuals to seek entry to work in the UK without having a prior offer of employment or to take up self employment opportunities. HSMP aims to provide an individual route for highly skilled people who have the skills and experience required by the UK to compete in the global economy.
In order to qualify for the scheme you need to score 65 points but if you are under 28 years old at the time when you make your application you will receive an age allowance of 5 points.
There are a number of criteria under which your application will be assessed but the main areas which will be considered are your educational background, work experience, past earnings, achievement in your chosen field and partner’s achievements.
